WILLIAMSBURG — The Virginia Arts Festival announced that Jon C. Martin will take over as the new director of Williamsburg Live, the Historic Triangle’s annual outdoor music festival.
Martin has an extensive background in event and venue management. Over the course of his career he has managed venues across the country as well as toured with major artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Cher, and Van Halen. He has also managed touring exhibitions such as a the Baseball Hall of Fame tour and Bodies: The Exhibition.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Virginia Arts Festival as Director of Williamsburg Live,” said Martin. “I have long admired their inspired programming and innovative approach, and I especially appreciate their long relationships with the leadership and communities of Hampton Roads. I’m looking forward to this June’s Williamsburg Live event, and we’re already working on plans to make 2023 and beyond even more exciting.”
The 2022 edition of Williamsburg Live is set for June 17-19 and will feature three nights of nationally touring music acts such as Emmy- Grammy-, and Golden Globe-nominated actress, singer, and songwriter Mandy Moore, four-time Grammy Award-winning Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and country music icon, Martina McBride.
