WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary (W&M) held what they call “a soft opening” for its new Spirit Shop and Bookstore at 601 Prince George St. on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021.

The book store is operated by Barnes & Noble College (BNC) and features William & Mary branded products and select trade books.

The new location will offer outdoor seating and free parking, while also continuing to offer in-store events and programs. The new location allows the book store to be closer to the student population in addition to providing services to visitors of the campus. Two goals that the bookstore had when they announced the move back in March 2021.

The new store is also supported by a partnership between BNC and Fanatics. This new partnership is said to help provide more apparel options through a new website that adds to the store’s inventory.

The W&M bookstore’s official grand opening is scheduled for Dec. 8 from 5-8 p.m. The bookstore announced that there will be a ceremonial ribbon-cutting in addition to storewide savings, free T-shirts, a scavenger hunt, a merchandise customization bar, photo opportunities with the Griffin, and students who attend the opening are eligible to win textbook scholarships up to $250 each.

Those seeking more information are encouraged to follow the store on their Facebook page.
