WILLIAMSBURG — Relay for Life of Williamsburg is set to host a drive-thru version of its annual Relay for Life event on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Riverside Doctor’s Hospital, 1500 Commonwealth Avenue.
Relay For Life is a community-based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society as well as other cancer related institutions. As well as raising money, the event looks to honor local cancer survivors and caretakers.
Ordinarily, Relay for Life takes place on a track or path, but the COVID-19 pandemic has forced communities everywhere to switch the event to a drive-thru or virtual model in light of social distancing requirements.
This event will feature a Luminaria Ceremony in which paper lanterns are set out to represent a person died from cancer, a cancer survivor, or support for a person currently fighting the disease. Anyone who wishes to attend or donate to this event should visit the Relay For Life of Williamsburg website.
