WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) announced in a press release published on Wednesday, May 26, that it would offer new public services, including faxing, notary and test proctoring free of charge.

“The pandemic helped us see the value of being more responsive to the needs of our community and more imaginative when it comes to what we can offer outside the scope of traditional library functions,” said Melissa Simpson, WRL’s Adult Services director. “These new services have been frequently requested by our users in the past, so we’re excited to be able to finally add them to our line-up.”

The fax machines are installed in the computer area of both the Williamsburg and James City library buildings are self-serve and free to use without an appointment. There will also be library staff on hand should a patron need assistance.

People in need of notary services are encouraged to reserve a time in advance by booking an appointment on the WRL website or calling the adult services desk. While walk-ins are welcome, reserving ahead of time will ensure that the library has a certified notary present. Notary services are available at both branches.

Test proctoring services are available on a limited basis at the James City County Library. The service is by appointment only.

Both notary and test proctoring services can be scheduled on the WRL website or by calling the adult services desk at 757-741-3300.
