Williamsburg City Manager Andrew Trivette has extended his staff telework directive until Friday, Feb. 19.

The original order in early January announced staff would telework, to the extent possible, through Jan. 22 and was subsequently extended to Feb. 5.

“We learned in the spring that our staff can provide just about all of our functions remotely,” Trivette said in a news release at the time of the original order. “It is in the best interest of city staff and the community that we temporarily return to remote operations.”

With the understanding some business must be conducted in person, staff will continue to schedule in-person appointments as necessary.

The virtual front desk in the entryway of the Municipal Building at 401 Lafayette St. will continue to operate, allowing the public to speak with a receptionist, who can connect them with the appropriate staff member.

Visitors are reminded that in-person, same-day service is not guaranteed for those without an appointment.

Residents are encouraged to use the city website or call 757-220-6100 to find the department to handle their specific requests.

The city website also features Citibot, a chatbot that allows citizens to submit questions about city services, report issues, or send messages to staff. Citibot can be found at the bottom-right corner of city’s website.
