Good news, trick-or-treaters.

If you’re going door-to-door for candy and other ghoulish treats, you might not need to cover your costume with a coat this year.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a warm Halloween evening Wednesday — temperatures will hover in the low- to mid-70s then drop to the mid- to low-60s around 8 p.m.

It will be slightly warmer than last year, meteorologist Eswar Iyer said.

Iyer said Williamsburg is unlikely to see any rain. There may be a light breeze about 10 to 15 mph.

“It should be a dry evening — It’s looking pretty good,” Iyer said.

Last year, Halloween’s highs were around 70 degrees and dropped to the low- to mid-40s in the evening. This year, the temperature drop won’t be as drastic, Iyer said.

The forecast for other areas of the Virginia Peninsula and the Southside is about the same as Williamsburg, Iyer said.

On average, Halloween’s high and low temperatures have been 66 and 45 degrees, respectively, in Norfolk, the National Weather Service’s closest climatology point to Williamsburg.

In past years, Norfolk has seen Halloween temperatures high as the mid-80s and as low as the low-30s.

Williamsburg is usually a few degrees cooler than Norfolk during this time of year, Iyer said.
