Local Teachers Honored with Mini-Grants

Several local teachers have been awarded mini-grants for classroom projects (Pixabay)

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Several local teachers were recently honored with mini-grants to put towards classroom projects.

On Monday, Oct. 25, Langley for Families Foundation announced that thirty teachers in the Hampton Roads area have been selected as the recipients for these mini-grants, each valued at $500. Of those selected, four are teachers in either York County School Division or Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. Below is a list of the teachers that were the recipients:

Some of the projects submitted by the recipients for consideration include a rocket-launching experiment, butterfly garden, percussion instruments, an Anime club, and a student-led picnic bench construction project.

“Education is the foundation for our communities’ kids to succeed,” said Langley for Families Foundation Director Laurel Ramey. “As a community advocate, it’s our role at Langley to support their important work to ensure bright futures.”

Langley for Families Foundation was launched in 2014 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity under the umbrella of Langley Federal Credit Union in order to focus on helping children and families in the Hampton Roads community. Areas in which the foundation focuses on are healthcare, housing and human services, safety and security, and education.

Langley Federal Credit Union has nineteen branches, over six hundred employees, 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs throughout the region, and serves in excess of 300,000 members.
