JAMES CITY COUNTY — Officers from the James City County Police Department are joining the community in a bike rodeo to help kids build up their confidence on bikes.

In a fun, interactive way to teach kids the rules of the road, the Bike Rodeo is geared towards new bikers to help improve riding skills. Kids of all ages who are new to bike riding are encouraged to attend.

Kids will learn the proper way to wear a helmet, use of hand signals and how to steer as well as how to maneuver while riding a bike. Then, participants can try riding through several different types of courses designed to build up confidence.

The event will take place on July 17 at Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School at 3131 Ironbound Road, 9-11 a.m.

Registration prior to the event is required as space is limited.

Please contact Master Police Officer Ben Woodhouse at 757-259-5150 or ben.woodhouse@jamescitycountyva.gov with any questions about the program.
