VIRGINIA BEACH — A twist on the classic ballet “The Nutcracker” will feature adoptable pups from the Virginia Beach SPCA in a special performance titled the “Pupcracker.”

The Richmond Ballet – The State Ballet of Virginia will partner with the VBSPCA for the second year for the “Pupcracker” during their Sunday, Dec. 9 (2 p.m.)  performance of “The Nutcracker” at Chrysler Hall.

Adoptable dogs from the VBSPCA will be available for a meet and greet in the lobby before the show and during intermission.

Two dogs adopted from the VBSPCA, Rock and Daisy, will make an appearance on stage during the performance, said Jennifer Chapman, Hampton Roads regional coordinator for the Richmond Ballet.

She said at any given time there are more than 100 animals available for adoption at the VBSPCA.

“Richmond Ballet is happy to partner with this wonderful organization to promote responsible pet adoption and all that VBSPCA does in our community,” she said.
