WILLIAMSBURG — Wagsters Magic Theatre will stage its first show in its all-new location off of Richmond Road July 18 and celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony later in the month.

Award-winning magicians Brandon and Hannah Wagster have been performing in Williamsburg since 2022. The couple announced last year that they planned to move to a new theater on High Street. The new location is a 7,500 square-foot facility that will accommodate 125 guests and allow the theater to be open for people to shop outside of performance times.

“We never thought that in three years we’d be able to relocate into something like this,” Brandon said, adding the new space was one they had toured when they first visited Williamsburg in spring of 2022. The Wagsters loved the building, feeling it matched Williamsburg’s colonial feel.

The plan is to stage the same number of shows, with the option to adjust that in the future depending on demand.

In addition to the increase in seating capacity, there will be a corner where guests can take group photos in front of a new Loveworks mural prior to the show and a party room that can be rented out, where Brandon can also perform his close-up magic show when it returns.

The decor featured in the new location was their home decor previously. Some of the light fixtures even came from their home, which they sold to start the original Magic Theater.

One of the biggest changes from the original location to the new one is the stage, which is low floor level rather than raised.

“One of the things we didn’t like before was that it wasn’t accessible for everybody, and now anyone can come on stage with us,” said Hannah.

The couple has been working to create new magic and program lighting and effects to premiere. The show has also been extended to two acts instead of just one. Currently, the show is listed on the website as being 90 minutes long.

Hannah assures that while the experience is being updated, the prices are not, so as to keep the show affordable for families. They have also hired additional staff, going from four employees to ten.

The Wagsters will host the official ribbon cutting on July 28 at 3 p.m. to celebrate the new location at 1430 High St., ste 202.
