WILLIAMSBURG— The Heritage Humane Society, Greater Williamsburg’s largest animal shelter, is inviting the community to its second annual Black Tie & Tails Gala on April 18, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Williamsburg.
Proceeds from the gala will support the shelter’s work protecting and caring for homeless pets through adoption, veterinary services and community outreach programs.
Tickets are on sale now. Organizers say only two sponsorship opportunities remain for businesses and organizations seeking to align with the event. Auction items are also still being accepted. Every dollar raised stays in the Greater Williamsburg community, directly supporting local pets in need.
An elegant evening with purpose
Presented by Diamond Collar Sponsor American Pride Automotive, the Black Tie & Tails Gala is expected to draw 350 community leaders, philanthropists and animal advocates.
Guests will enjoy dinner and dancing to the swing sounds of Live Music Sponsor Good Shot Judy. The evening will also include a raffle, games and live and silent auctions.
Major sponsors and Cufflink Sponsors will have access to a VIP reception beginning at 5 p.m. General admission opens at 6 p.m. Registration includes a three-course buffet and drink tickets courtesy of Fetch the Flask Sponsor Noah’s Ark Veterinary Hospital.
New for 2026
This year’s gala will debut a live auction in addition to the returning silent auction.
Featured items include a private dinner party for 16 at The Hound’s Tale with artists from Good Shot Judy and a live painting created during the event by artist Bob Oller. Additional themed experiences and gifts will be announced in the coming weeks.
Also new is an exclusive raffle prize: a hand-created natural diamond necklace by Paws & Pendant Sponsor Williamsburg Jewelers.
The popular “Heads or Tails” game will return, with three Visa gift cards awarded as prizes.
Sponsorships nearly sold out
Organizers say sponsorship inventory is nearly sold out, with only two opportunities remaining. Sponsors receive brand visibility, recognition among community leaders and alignment with the nonprofit’s mission.
Auction donations are also being accepted.
A critical fundraiser for homeless pets
The Black Tie & Tails Gala is one of the shelter’s most important annual fundraisers.
According to the shelter’s 2025 Impact Report, The Heritage Humane Society recorded 1,927 successful outcomes in 2025, including 1,476 adoptions, along with continued animal humane education programming.
The report also states that 86 cents of every dollar raised supports direct animal care.
Organizers encourage community members to purchase tickets early, as the event is expected to sell out again this year. Tickets and sponsorship information are available online or by emailing donate@heritagehumane.org.
Attendees must be 21 or older. While the fundraiser supports pets, organizers ask that guests leave their animals at home.
