York County DUI crash leads to life-threatening injuries

YORK COUNTY — A DUI-involved car crash in York County has resulted in life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, April 20, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a “serious motor vehicle accident” at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Kiln Creek Parkway.

Officers determined that a 2005 GMC Sierra was traveling eastbound on Victory Boulevard when it ran off the roadway, drove across the concrete median and hit head on a 2003 Toyota Camry.

The GMC Sierra driver and passenger, who were identified as 25-year-old Derik Ryan Adams, and 31-year-old John Devon Wright, respectively, attempted to flee the scene before they were detained by deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, 23-year-old Caleb Anthony Wedesky, sustained life threatening injuries. His passenger, 21-year-old Zeta Marie Fraughnaugh-Bogan, suffered minor injuries.

Adams and Wright were both arrested and charged with DUI-maiming, reckless driving, and felony hit and run. They were both taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

VSP is still investigating the crash.
