James City County’s Planning Commission is slated to begin writing the updates to the county’s Comprehensive Plan, which is used to guide development within the county.
The Planning Commission Working Group – comprising the full seven-member Planning Commission and one member of the Community Participation Team – will read through public comment received on the plan and translate it into a final update.
The group is slated to meet at 4 p.m. on Aug. 7 and 21, and each meeting will include a 15-minute public comment period at its start.
The Community Participation Team wrapped up its work Wednesday and forwarded a summary of input to the commissioners. The working group will also use staff research, data and reports in its process of reviewing and updating the Comprehensive Plan, which is required by state law to take place every five years.
The working group will meet in Building F at 101 Mounts Bay Road. Citizens wishing to provide public comment will each be given three minutes to speak. If additional citizens wish to speak, public comment periods will be added to the end of each meeting. Comments may also be made by calling the Comprehensive Plan hotline at 757-259-4990 ahead of the meetings.
For more information about the plan review, call the Planning Division at 757-253-6685 or visit the county’s website.
