NEWPORT NEWS — The Captains of Christopher Newport University are the top choice of New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) football coaches heading into the 2024 season. The annual pre-season poll of coaches was released by the league on Monday, and Paul Crowley’s squad received four first-place votes.

Christopher Newport is coming off its first-ever NJAC title since joining the conference in 2015. The Captains concluded the 2023 campaign with a 7-4 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014.

“The NJAC is always incredibly deep, and last year the league came down to the last set of games,” Crowley said. “It’s an extremely tough schedule and our games will be competitive week in and week out.”
