RICHMOND — After helping the No. 11/12 William & Mary football team earn an impressive 49-7 victory against Hampton in its conference opener at Zable Stadium on Saturday, senior quarterback Darius Wilson was selected as the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Wilson posted a tremendous performance both through the air and on the ground, as he completed 16-of-19 passes for 198 yards with a touchdown and rushed for 82 yards on 11 carries (7.5 yards/carry) with a touchdown. His 84.2 completion percentage was a career best and the seventh-best effort by an FCS signal caller this season.
In addition to helping W&M post a season-high 49 points, Wilson’s effort propelled the Tribe to 632 yards of total offense and 434 rushing yards. The total yardage was the program’s most since 2005, while the rushing effort ranks third in school history.
One of the nation’s top dual-threat quarterbacks, Wilson has thrown for 836 yards with four touchdowns and rushed for 332 yards with four scores this season. Additionally, he has completed 61 percent of his passes and thrown just one interception.
The Bronx, N.Y., native continues to move up on the Tribe’s career lists and ranks fourth in total yards (7,509), eighth in passing yards (5,861) and ninth in passing touchdowns (37).
W&M will look to continue its impressive start to the 2024 campaign and remain unbeaten versus FCS opponents when it plays at Towson on Saturday at 6 p.m.
