JAMESTOWN — Get ready to combine your love for running with a step back in time — the Democracy Dash 10K is returning to historic Jamestown Island on Sept. 28, and the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation promises an extraordinary race through one of America’s most storied landscapes.
Participants will enjoy a picturesque course that meanders through the historically significant Jamestown Island, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue, and with each mile, runners will be immersed in the story of America’s early colonial days, it said.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the Historic Jamestown Visitor Center, 1368 Colonial Parkway.

- Historic Route: Experience the beauty and significance of Jamestown Island as you run
through picturesque landscapes that have witnessed centuries of history. - Personal Record course: The course is PR (personal-record) fast and totally flat, and
outside of the causeway section at the start, is a wooded, shaded, scenic route with
wetlands crossings on wooden bridges, unsurpassed in historical beauty. - Pre- and Post-Race Events: Explore the grounds of Historic Jamestowne, speak to
archaeologists about the latest discoveries, and enjoy Billsburg Brewery craft beer, and
food and refreshments from Magnolia at the Dale House. - Race Swag: Every participant receives a commemorative race T-shirt and medal,
perfect for showing off your achievement and newfound historical knowledge.
All proceeds benefit the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation, the nonprofit organization that preserves and shares the history of Jamestown, and the Save Jamestown campaign, which aims to protect our nation’s birthplace from the damaging effects of rising sea levels.
