WILLIAMSBURG — The Virginia Chefs Association (VCA) is hosting a 50th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Alewerks Brewing Company.

The Oktoberfest-themed milestone event will feature an afternoon of food, craft brews, wine and live music in a festive atmosphere.

All-inclusive tickets are $85 and are available for sale online while supplies last.

A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for $135 and include early entry for exclusive cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a sparkling wine toast with the chefs, along with a 21-ounce glass stein and $10 gift card from Alewerks.

All ticket holders will enjoy a selection of gourmet German dishes prepared by renowned local chefs, most notably Hans Schadler, former executive chef and culinary director for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

Schadler’s culinary career spans more than 45 years of cooking for multiple Presidents of United States, heads of state, royalty, dignitaries and countless hotel and resort guests from around the world. He was inducted into the American Academy of Chefs Hall of Fame in 2021.

This year’s event will support the VCA, a local chapter of the American Culinary Federation, the largest professional chefs organization in North America.

Proceeds from the event will directly support the VCA’s mission to promote the culinary arts profession locally. Funds will provide scholarships to students aspiring to be chefs, fund programming for members’ continuing education and help individuals obtain key certifications.

“The Virginia Chefs Association has been at the forefront of promoting culinary excellence for five decades, yet the challenges facing our profession are greater than ever,” said Win Goodier, Virginia Chefs Association President, “This event not only commemorates 50 years of dedication to the culinary arts, but also serves as an important fundraiser to support future programs and initiatives aimed at nurturing the next generation of chefs.”
