JAMES CITY COUNTY — The Cal Tri Williamsburg Olympic and Cal Tri Williamsburg Sprint Triathlons take place on Sunday, July 21, and James City County cautions several parks and roadways will be impacted.

According to the county, motorists may encounter delays on the following roadways:

  • Jamestown Road
  • Greensprings Road
  • Route 5 (John Tyler Highway)

Motorists are asked to use caution, follow traffic signs and watch for pedestrians and event participants.

Several county parks and trails will also be impacted by the event, it noted. The cycling, running and swimming events will be held at Jamestown Beach Event Park, along Greensprings Interpretive Trail, Powhatan Creek Trail and the Virginia Capital Trail from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The beachfront park, trails and off-leash dog area will remain open to the public during the event, however, beach visitors and trail users should expect heavy swimming, cycling and running traffic and are asked to be alert for race participants passing.
