NWS Yorktown’s MWR Department to Hold Civilian Hiring Event

YORKTOWN — The team at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown’s Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) Department will hold a civilian hiring event on Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The event will be held off the installation at the Sports Zone Gym, located at 2062 Lebanon Church Road in Newport News. The event is open to the public and does not require installation access.

Available positions include recreation assistants, food service attendants, fitness specialists, custodial workers and sales assistants. Naval Weapons Station Yorktown’s MWR delivers high-quality programs and services to the military community which contributes to resiliency, retention, readiness and quality of life. Examples include recreational lodging, bowling centers, a golf course onboard Cheatham Annex, gyms, fitness centers, aquatics programs, a movie theater, recreation centers, special events and food and beverage locations.

Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old to be considered for various flexible and part-time MWR positions at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. All levels of education will be considered. Operating hours at these facilities range from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and shifts can include weekends, nights and special events.

The hiring event will include on-site qualifications screening, interviews, and Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) Human Resources orientation. Be prepared to stay as needed, as tentative hire letters will be issued the same day. All applicants should bring their resume, a photo ID card, SSN card, certifications (CPR, First Aid, etc.), high school diploma/GED or collegiate transcripts if applicable, along with bank account information for direct deposit payments.
