NEWPORT NEWS — The Hampton and Peninsula Health Districts (HPHD) have announced an upcoming Health Expo, set to take place on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The family-friendly, free event is being hosted at the new Peninsula Health Center and promises to be a day of fun, learning, and community engagement.
“We will have over 40 vendors offering back-to-school vaccinations for 7th and 12th graders, yearly school physicals, career services and resume reviews, training sessions, presentations, and more,” explained Tes La Dieu, HPHD Public Information Officer.
Health Expo vendors will offer a wealth of services and resources designed to benefit the entire family, and food trucks will be site.
Highlights include:
- Back-2-School Vaccinations: Essential immunizations for 7th and 12th
graders to ensure a healthy start to the school year. - Health Screenings: Free HIV testing, BMI, A1C, and blood pressure checks
to help you stay on top of your health. - Career Services: Expert resume reviews and interview skill-building tips to
enhance your job prospects. - Kids’ Games and Activities: Fun for the little ones, including a special visit
from a fire truck between noon and 2 p.m. - Lecture and Presentation Series: Informative sessions on mental health
first aid, REVIVE! training, CPR, and more throughout the day. - Medicaid Enrollment: Assistance with signing up for Medicaid to ensure
you and your family have access to necessary healthcare services. - Social Needs Screenings and Referrals: Support to connect you with
resources tailored to your specific needs. - Maternal Child Health Services: Information and services to support
mothers and their children. - Healthy Aging Services: Resources and advice for maintaining health and
wellness as you age. - Behavioral and Mental Health Services: Access to mental health support
and resources.
The Hampton and Peninsula Health Districts, located at 836-A J. Clyde Morris Blvd. in
Newport News, serve the localities of Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg and York County.
