YORKTOWN — The 18th season of Yorktown Market Days begins April 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at Riverwalk Landing.
Held in collaboration with York County’s Department of Public Works and the York County Beautification Committee, Yorktown Market Days will Go Green to encourage shoppers to reduce, reuse, and recycle to promote environmental sustainability, according to York County Public Affairs.
Complimentary reusable market bags will be available for the first 250 customers, and shoppers will have an opportunity to learn about eco-friendly methods and products, the county said, and some businesses will offer recycling incentives at their booths for future purchases.
The market, which runs Saturdays through the end of October, rain or shine, except May 4 and Oct. 5, is a way for families of all economic backgrounds to access fresh, nutritious food as close to the source as possible, according to the county, which notes Yorktown Market Days is a participant in the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Several themed markets throughout the season offer extended hours and additional family-friendly activities such as live music, educational programming, and performances by the Fifes and Drums of York Town.
