WILLIAMSBURG — Daylight saving time officially begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10.
In addition to setting clocks ahead one hour, it is recommended to check the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
In January 2023, a bill to move to year-round daylight saving time failed in the Virginia Senate and in 2023, HB 6, which aims to make the commonwealth observe Eastern Daylight Time year-round if Congress allowed for the time change to take effect was referred to the Committee on Rules, where it remains.
Sunrise on Sunday in Williamsburg will be at 7:24 a.m., and the sun will set at 7:10 p.m. Daylight saving time will end on Sunday, Nov. 3.
