RICHMOND — The Sentara Cap2Cap presented by Dominion Energy will celebrate its 19th year on May 10 and 11 along the Virginia Capital Trail.
The paved trail stretches from Williamsburg to Richmond through a landscape of rich farmlands, forest canopies, and stunning river views.
“Collaborating with Sentara Healthcare, Dominion Energy, and our valued partners, we take pride in crafting an exceptional journey for our riders. This event not only highlights the splendor of the Virginia Capital Trail but also unites our entire community in a truly special way,” said Cat Anthony, Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation.
The family-friendly event, which includes a fully supported course, furnished rest stops, and distance options ranging from a 10–mile fun ride to 100+ miles, is perfect for any age or fitness level, according to the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. Notable features include customizable routes, a flexible open-start format, SAG and tech support, restroom facilities, sample ride itineraries, and on-site packet pick-ups.
Cyclists can also look forward to a special VIP experience featuring a party and vendor fair at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in James City County on Friday, May 10, and at Dorey Park in Henrico County on Saturday, May 11, the foundation said
Participants also receive an event shirt, lunch, cold beverage, ride bib, and a SWAG gift bag.
New this year are team competitions with prizes, a stylish new jersey design, and the first-ever Cap2Cap tech tee. Returning favorites include specialty rest stops featuring Ukrop’s cookies, Pickle Juice, & Breez-In potato wedges; the two-day challenge; and a shuttle option for the half-century ride.
Ride segments feature the aes Century, Half Century, Allianz Quarter Century, aes Family Fun Ride, Redmond Asset Management 2-Day Challenge, or the TowneBank Virtual Ride.
Event proceeds support the work of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation.
