WILLIAMSBURG — As part of our countdown to 2024, WYDaily is revisiting its most-read stories of the year.
Coming in at No. 6 is a story from March about confusing, newly-installed signs that had appeared on the Colonial Parkway noting visitors needed to pay an entrance fee and hold a valid entrance pass.
The 23-mile roadway, stretching from the York River at Yorktown to the James River at Jamestown, is a part of the National Park Service. As such, a park entrance fee is required for recreating in the park, however, the fee does not apply to thru travelers who do not stop.
