RICHMOND — After establishing themselves among the top players in the CAA, 10 William & Mary football standouts earned postseason all-conference honors on Tuesday.
Highlighting the Tribe’s honorees are five first-team selections – senior offensive lineman Charles Grant, senior defensive end Nate Lynn, junior linebacker John Pius, senior cornerback Ryan Poole and senior placekicker Caden Bonoffski.
Senior linebacker Kevin Jarrell earned third-team distinction, while junior running back Malachi Imoh, junior offensive lineman Ryan McKenna, junior safety Marcus Barnes and senior safety Malcolm Spencer garnered honorable mention accolades.
All-CAA First Team
Charles Grant, OL – Two-time All-CAA First Team selection (2022, 2023) … Started all 11 games at left tackle … Helped W&M rank 13th nationally and third in the CAA in rushing (196.9) … Totaled 29 career starts, all coming at left tackle … Preseason All-America … Preseason All-CAA.
Nate Lynn, DL – Two-time Buck Buchanan Award Finalist (2021, 2023) … Three-time All-CAA First Team selection (2021, 2022, 2023) … Ranked 18th nationally and fifth in the CAA in sacks per game (.8) this season … Ranked seventh in the CAA in TFL per game (1.1) … Senior season stats included 58 tackles, 8.0 sacks, 11.0 TFL, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery … Honored as the Fed Ex Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week and CAA Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in W&M’s win at Charleston Southern … Ranks second in school history in career sacks (28.0) and third in TFL (40.0) … His 12 career forced fumbles leads the nation among all active Division I players (FCS & FBS) … Shrine Bowl 1000 selection (2023) … Chosen as an All-American multiple times by many organizations.
John Pius, LB – Two-time All-CAA First Team selection (2022, 2023) … Only FCS player on the 2023 Butkus Award Watch List … Ranked seventh nationally and third in the CAA in sacks per game (.86) this season … Ranked 14th nationally and third in the CAA in TFL per game (1.5) … Season stats included 53 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 16.0 TFL, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery … TFL total ranks third on W&M’s single-season list, while the sacks total ranks eighth … Ranks fourth in school history in career sacks (24.5) and second in TFL (40.5) … Senior Bowl Watch List (2023) … Shrine Bowl 1000 selection (2023) … Buck Buchanan Award Runner-Up (2022) … CAA Defensive Player of the Year (2022) … Selected as an All-American by multiple organizations last season.
Ryan Poole, CB – Three-time All-CAA selection, including a two-time first-team honoree (2022, 2023) … Ranked 15th nationally and second in the CAA in passes defended per game (1.2) … Ranked fifth in the CAA in interceptions (3) … All three interceptions came against conference opponents … Season stats also included 43 tackles, 10 PBU and 2.5 TFL … Recorded at least one PBU in seven of eight CAA contests.
Caden Bonoffski, PK – Led the CAA and ranked fourth nationally in field goal percentage (.889) … Led the CAA and ranked seventh nationally in made field goals per game (1.45) … Ranked third in the CAA in scoring among kickers (6.6) … Made 16-of-18 field goal attempts this season … Connected on 8-of-9 attempts from 40+ yards … His 16 made field goals rank ninth on W&M’s single-season list … Honored as the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week following the win against Wofford.
All-CAA Third Team
Kevin Jarrell, LB – Ranked third in the CAA and 18th nationally in solo tackles per game (5.3) … Led W&M and ranked ninth in the CAA in tackles (84) … Honored as the CAA Defensive Player of the Week following the win at Hampton … Season stats also included a sack, two forced fumbles, an interception and three PBU … Totaled at least nine tackles in six games … Career stats included 203 tackles, 11.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 10 PBU, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
All-CAA Honorable Mention
Malachi Imoh, RB – Ranked seventh nationally and third in the CAA in yards per carry (6.79) … Ranked third in the CAA in rushing yards (855), fifth in rushing yards per game (77.7) and eighth in all-purpose yards per game (97.1) … Totaled four touchdowns, three rushing and one receiving … Also recorded 19 receptions for 183 yards.
Ryan McKenna, OL – Started 10 games at center … Helped W&M rank 13th nationally and third in the CAA in rushing (196.9) … Totaled 23 career starts, all coming at center.
Marcus Barnes, S – Totaled 54 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and a PBU … Tackle total ranked fourth on the team … Posted a season-high 12 tackles with a forced fumble in the win at Campbell … Recorded eight stops at Virginia … Career stats include 145 tackles, five interceptions, 13 PBU, two forced fumbles and 2.0 TFL.
Malcolm Spencer, S – Ranked fifth in the CAA in interceptions (3) … Season stats also included 39 tackles, four PBU and a fumble recovery … Totaled a season-high eight tackles versus Towson … Interceptions came against Virginia, UAlbany and Charleston Southern.
