Good Food Provisions Cafe Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting

WILLIAMSBURG — Good Food Provisions, a cafe located at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex (WISC), celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Good Food Provisions states “together we will fundraise and feed it forward,” and all proceeds from sales at the cafe provide funding to Meals on Wheels.

The kitchen space is also used to prepare and pack approximately 200 hot meals a day that are distributed through the Meals on Wheels program.

Cathie Upton, Executive Director and CEO for Meals on Wheels shared, “Social enterprise was something I started studying pre-COVID. Fundraising is changing. We are not going to fundraise the way we used to. So, how can we be creative? How can we do it differently? Using my heart to open a cafe where the proceeds would go back to the nonprofit, and that we would offer a training program for students with disabilities. It is so important to me that we treat one another with respect and patience.”
“I am excited about the partnership between Good Food Provisions and Meals on Wheels,” said Del. Amanda Batten at the ribbon cutting, “It is wonderful to walk into this space and see this place where folks can gather.”
In addition to the cafe, Good Food Provisions provides box lunches and catering services.
Good Food Provisions is located at the front of the WISC building. Open to the public on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. until 7:30 pm, Fridays from noon until 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. During events and seasonally, times may vary.
“This place is very special because we are taking care of the community, not only with daily meals but providing the opportunity to bring people together over a table,” said Upton.
