Series: Bringing Fresh Food to Those Who Need it Most

JAMES CITY COUNTY — This two-part series looks at how local businesses and organizations are working together to provide fresh food to those in the community who desperately need it. Part one looks at how a local farm is serving the community through a grant that provides distribution to area food pantries. Part two explores how local nonprofit Grove Christian Outreach is using these local resources to better its neighborhood.

Providing healthy food choices to the entire community is the goal of KelRae Farm, and with the assistance of Virginia-based Lulus Local Food and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it is becoming a reality.

Part Two: Grove Christian Outreach is Providing Fresh Food for the Grove Community

Grove Christian Outreach is working to meet the needs of its Grove area neighbors who live in what is considered a ‘food desert’ through collaborative efforts.
