VSP: Pedestrian Fatality in James City County Under Investigation

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Virginia State Police are investigating and accident in James City County on Friday evening that resulted in the death of a Williamsburg man.

On Oct. 13 at approximately 7:45 p.m., state police said they responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian with a fatality at Route 60, east of Route 199.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban, 57-year-old Daniel F. Woloszynowski, of Williamsburg, was traveling westbound on Route 60 when he attempted to make a lane change and struck a pedestrian who was illegally walking on the roadway.
The pedestrian, 48-year-old Shaine Deeleeoan Henderson, of Weaver Road, Williamsburg, suffered life-threatening injuries and later died at the scene. Henderson was found to be wearing all black clothing on a roadway with no street illumination.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to assist. It was determined that neither alcohol nor speed were contributing factors in the crash. The Commonwealth Attorney was also notified of the crash investigation.
The crash investigation remains ongoing.
