YORK COUNTY — The York County Board of Supervisors Tuesday evening appointed Deputy County Administrator Mark Bellamy as Interim County Administrator effective Jan. 1.
Bellamy’s appointment coincides with the retirement of th current county administrator, Neil Morgan, who announced in an August letter to the board of his plans to retire at the end of the year.
“By taking action now, we can all make plans for the upcoming transition. The organization and the community can be confident that there will be continuity in all of the important things for which we are responsible,” said Chairman Tom Shepperd. “This also allows the newly organized Board of Supervisors to consider the long-term decision regarding the County Administrator position.”
Morgan, a former Newport News city manager, was hired by the county in 2015.
