Man Charged in Shooting at Yorktown Motor Lodge

YORKTOWN — A man was charged Tuesday in connection with an Aug. 16 shooting at the Yorktown Motor Lodge that left a man injured.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Yorktown Motor Lodge in the 8800 block of George Washington Memorial Highway on Aug. 16 at approximately 8:42 p.m. to a shooting with injuries.

Sheriff’s Office deputies located the victim, a 24-year-old male, with a single gunshot wound to his leg, officials said. The victim was transported to the hospital.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, Sheriff’s Office investigators charged 24-year-old Charles Kemp Brown Jr., last known to reside in Gloucester, with Felonious Assault, Discharging a Firearm in an Occupied Building, and Reckless Handling of a Firearm, the Sheriff’s Office said.
