WILLIAMSBURG — Chosen to repeat as CAA champions by the league’s head coaches earlier this summer, the William & Mary football team earned a No. 4 national ranking in the Stats Perform Preseason Top 25 announced Monday.
W&M also previously garnered preseason top-10 national rankings by Athlon Sports (No. 4) and HERO Sports (No. 7).
With the majority of its starters returning from last season’s record-setting squad, this year’s talented group is led by 10 preseason all-conference standouts and five preseason All-America selections. Additionally, linebacker John Pius and defensive end Nate Lynn were selected to the Buck Buchanan Watch List, while running back Bronson Yoder was chosen to the Walter Payton Award Watch List.
Led by 2022 Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year Finalist Mike London, the Tribe will look to build off of last season’s tremendously successful campaign in which it equaled a school record with 11 victories, advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and won a share of the CAA title. Tickets are on sale and available at TribeAthletics.com.
The Tribe will open its 2023 slate at Campbell on Thursday, Aug. 31, while its home opener at Zable Stadium against Wofford will be the following weekend (Sept. 9).
