City of Williamsburg to Begin 2023 Paving Schedule on Monday

WILLIAMSBURG — The City of Williamsburg announced its annual paving program will begin the week of Aug. 7.

The work consists of milling and paving streets in several neighborhoods across the city, it said, adding “no parking” signs will be posted in the affected areas one day prior to the beginning of work. Residences and businesses will be accessible except for a brief time when the asphalt is initially placed and compacted.

According to the city, motorists should be prepared for:

  • Changing traffic patterns — expect single lane closures during road work.
  • A reduction in speed in the work area.
  • Uneven and rough pavement.
  • Unmarked pavement.

The city also cautions pets should not walk onto the fresh pavement for at least 12-14 hours after the asphalt was placed to avoid injury to their pads.
