WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg’s Index AR Solutions, a nationally recognized creator of digital workforce training, is participating in a Youth Career Series event at the Stryker Center on Aug. 2 from 2-5 p.m.
The Youth Career Series is designed for children and teens aged 9 through 18 and is hosted by the Williamsburg Regional Library.
Company staff will be on hand for an afternoon of education and hands-on activities using iPads, eBooks and augmented reality (AR) applications. Videos and 3D visualizations will give participants “a first-hand look at what it is like to have a well-paying career as a line worker for a major electric utility,” the firm said.
Participants can also try their hand at virtual training exercises and will be awarded a professional certificate of completion, it added.
Index said the materials for the event are based on a first-of-its-kind training curriculum it recently implemented in a community college setting. The new method of training is designed to help address the shortage of skilled workers facing major utilities and other high-tech industries, it explained.
Registration is encouraged. Those interested should call 757-741-3300 and select option two.
