5 & Dime Trail Launch and Ribbon Cutting Set for August 3

JAMES CITY COUNTY —  A ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the opening of the 5 & Dime Trail will be held on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. at Billsburg Brewery in Williamsburg, adjacent to the James City County Marina.

The 5 & Dime is noted in a release to have a scenic driving route that showcases unique visitor stops along Route 5 (The 5) and Route 10 (The Dime) which crosses through the City of Hopewell, Prince George County, Charles City County, James City County, and Surry County.

The 80-mile-long route boasts history, outdoor adventure, live music, exceptional food and drink, and hidden gems.

These localities and the Hopewell Downtown Partnership formed a collaborative group to highlight local restaurants, retail shops, parks, and other outdoor recreation venues and experiences to appeal to day trippers and overnight guests in the various areas.

Both the Billsburg Brewery and the Marina are among the many featured James City County stops along the trail.

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) assisted with the trail’s development and provided guidance to bring the route to life. The VTC encourages everyone to experience all that Virginia has to offer by exploring one of the commonwealth’s many themed trails, with the 5 & Dime being an up-and-coming addition.

Scheduled to attend the ribbon cutting are Rita McClenny, VTC President and CEO, along with representatives of the participating localities.
