One Dead in Tarleton Bivouac Fire

JAMES CITY COUNTY — One person is dead Tuesday after a residential fire in the 100 block of Tarleton Bivouac.

James City County Fire Department responded to a report of a residential fire at approximately 2:37 a.m. July 18, the county said. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke conditions with reports of occupants still inside the home.  

Three people were located and removed by fire crews, officials said.

One was flown by helicopter to VCU Medical Center in Richmond and another, that was unresponsive at the scene, was transported to Riverside Doctors Hospital Williamsburg in serious condition.

The third occupant of the home was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted on the call.
