JAMES CITY COUNTY — An 8-year-old Philadelphia girl drowned Saturday, July 15, at the Greensprings Vacation Resort in Williamsburg.
The drowning occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., James City County Police said. The victim was in the pool with family. There was no lifeguard on duty, according to police.
Bystanders immediately performed life-saving measures until emergency personnel arrived, police said.
The child was transported to the Sentara Regional Medical Center, where she was declared deceased later in the evening by hospital staff.
The incident is under investigation.
