HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Part beagle, part foxhound and all attitude, Ferris Bueller (no, not THAT Bueller but, definitely named after the ’80s icon) is a one-year-old pup who loves to head out on adventures and explore new places and meet people.
Saturday mornings in the summer months mean a trip to your local farmers market. Ferris and his human love to visit Williamsburg Farmers Market held every Saturday between March and October in Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchant Square. (Seasonal holiday markets occur in November and December.)
This friendly and lively event takes place between 8 a.m. and noon. Pups and people happily mingle while listening to live music and browsing the produce, prepared food, and farm-related products grown or made in Virginia.
In operation since 2002, the market offers a diverse selection of products, bringing together farmers, bakers, watermen and a variety of prepared food vendors. Reselling is not allowed, so the people doing the growing and producing are the same smiling folks who sell those products.
Many dogs are out during market hours, so there are plenty of opportunities to socialize with other canines. Many vendors offer fresh water and treats too! Of course, Ferris’ favorite vendor is Besty’s BaRkery.

Happen to spot Ferris out on an adventure? Come say hello! If you have a dog-friendly suggestion you would like Ferris to consider covering or visiting, please email his mom. Hounds are not very good at responding.
