JAMESTOWN — The James City County Police Department (JCCPD) is reminding motorists and recreationists the Jamestown Olympic and Jamestown Sprint Triathlons, taking place Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18, will impact local traffic and parks.
According to JCCPD, motorists may encounter delays on the following roadways:
- Jamestown Road
- Greensprings Road
- Jolly Pond Road
- Centerville Road
- Route 5
JCCPD is asking motorists to please use caution, follow traffic signs and watch for pedestrians and event participants.
Several County parks and trails will also be impacted by the event.
The cycling, running and swimming events will be held at Jamestown Beach Event Park, along the Greensprings Interpretive Trail, Powhatan Creek Trail and the Virginia Capital Trail from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The beachfront park, trails and off-leash dog area will remain open to the public during the event, however, beach visitors and trail users should expect heavy swimming, cycling and running traffic, and are asked to be alert for race participants passing.
