TOANO — The Toano Historical Society will be hosting its second annual Toano Summer Solstice 2023 on Saturday, June 24 to promote community and benefit the organization.
Toano Historical Society (THS) is a local nonprofit organization “created to inspire a sense of community spirit, promote interest in Toano history, and preserve our small-town character.”
“Primarily we want to revitalize, protect and preserve the town of Toano,” said Lindsey Wagner-Jones, event coordinator for Summer Solstice 2023 and THS board member, “Summer Solstice is just one of the main fundraising events we host to reach those goals.”
Summer Solstice 2023 will take place from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Village Green in the heart of Toano at 7891 Richmond Road. Live music will be provided by Joe’s Day Off, a popular local band. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and the event will feature vendors from Toano Open Air Market.
Limited tickets are for sale and all proceeds from the event go to THS. VIP early access tickets are available and children under 18 years old are free.
The event, along with the weekly Toano Open Air Market, are ideal times to come visit and experience the rich history of the town says Wagner-Jones.
“We want Toano to maintain its small-town charm but, we want to see it reach its potential. We want the community to be proud of where they live.”
