WILLIAMSBURG — The William & Mary football team garnered another top-10 national ranking on Thursday, as it earned the No. 7 spot in the HERO Sports Preseason Top 25.
W&M was ranked No. 4 in the Athlon Sports Preseason Top 25 announced last week.
The Tribe is coming off a historic 2022 campaign in which it equaled a school record with 11 victories and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. W&M also won a school-record 10 regular season games, posted a perfect 6-0 regular season road record for the first time in school history, defeated three nationally ranked teams and earned a lopsided season-opening victory on the road against FBS opponent Charlotte.
Led by 2022 Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year Finalist Mike London, this year’s edition of the Tribe returns 15 starters from last season’s record-setting squad, highlighted Buck Buchanan Award runner-up John Pius and five first-team All-CAA standouts.

The Tribe will open its 2023 slate at Campbell on Thursday, Aug. 31, while its home opener at Zable Stadium will against Wofford the following weekend (Sept. 9).
