YORK COUNTY — Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a body found along Old Williamsburg Road in York County over the weekend, it was announced Wednesday.
The body of 25-year-old Tyosha Tanique Mitchell, of Richmond, was found deceased in York County, on the side of Old Williamsburg Road, in the early morning hours of May 6. Police were alerted by a jogger who spotted the body while passing by.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said at the time it believed that the woman was forcibly taken from Richmond in the early hours of Saturday morning, and died at the scene as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. According to Sheriff Ron Montgomery, 14 shell casings were found nearby.
The following suspects have been arrested for the murder:
- 24-year-old Jamica Danielle Langley, last known address was in Richmond
- 18-year-old Acacia Jackson, last known address was in Norfolk
- 24-year-old Hezekiah Janile “H.K.” Carney, last known address was in Norfolk
The suspects were arrested in Portsmouth and taken to Portsmouth City Jail, Montgomery said. They will eventually be transferred to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
Montgomery said the investigation revealed the crime to be gang-related. The investigation is ongoing.
Montgomery thanked the Richmond and Portsmouth police departments for their assistance.
