Goat Yoga Stretches into the Historic Triangle

(Lazy Day Farm and Petting Zoo)

WILLIAMSBURG — Yoga is good for the mind, body and soul. Goats are just plain cute. When the two are combined, a new trend emerged and it is finally coming to Williamsburg.

For one day, Sunday May 7, the Lazy Day Farm will bring its goat yoga class to Alewerks Brewing Company. Registration is required for the class, which begins at 10 a.m.

Alewerks Brewery Taproom Manager Christina Mixon said this is the first goat yoga class in Williamsburg.

“Lazy Day is a traveling farm. And, they have the goat yoga classes down to a science,” she explained. “They provide the instruction, goats, and fencing, while we provide the space. We are hoping that we can make this a regular event if it turns out well.”

No yoga experience is needed and the class is suitable for all ages. Participants are asked to bring a mat or towel to flow on. Registration is $28 per person and includes one free Alewerks pint of your choosing at the end of the session (or a complimentary fountain drink for those under 21).

“Some use yoga or their favorite beer to find their zen,” said Mixon, “We are providing both, plus goats!”
