Williamsburg Resident Dies in Crash with Tractor-Trailer on I-64

JAMES CITY COUNTY — An 80-year-old Williamsburg resident was killed in an accident Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 64 eastbound, west of Route 143 in James City County.

According to Virginia State Police (VSP), the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:13 p.m. near mile marker 234. The driver of a 2013 Honda CRV, 80-year-old Mish Kara of Williamsburg, was traveling in the right lane and rear-ended a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer. Kara lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the roadway onto the shoulder and came to rest on its side.
Kara died at the scene, VSP said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed.
According to VSP, neither alcohol or speed were contributing factors.
