WILLIAMSBURG- On Mar. 20, at around 3:57 p.m., the James City County Police and Fire Departments were called to a three-vehicle crash on Humelsine Parkway West at Olde Towne Road.
A 2007 Toyota Camry, traveling east on Humelsine Parkway, crossed the median and hit the guardrail on the west travel lanes, causing the vehicle to overturn. As a result, the driver of a 1994 Mazda B2300 swerved to avoid the Toyota and overturned. Additionally, the tow trailer of a Chevrolet Silverado was hit by the Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Toyota, Jacqueline Shropshire-Gibson (33-year-old of James City), was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mazda was flown to MCV with non-life-threatening injuries, and a passenger in the vehicle was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was not injured.
The investigation revealed that alcohol was a factor, and Shropshire-Gibson has been charged with Driving Under the Influence, pursuant to VA code 18.2-266. Humelsine Parkway West was blocked for several hours while the investigation occurred, and the crash remains under investigation.
