YORKTOWN — Cindy Norge has been teaching people to dance at her Yorktown dance studio on George Washington Memorial Parkway for 30 years, and while she is not prepared to hang up her dance shoes, in March the studio will transfer ownership to fellow instructor Patricia Lambert.

Under the new ownership, CB Dance Studios will become Ocean Breeze Dance Studio.

Lambert began her informal dance training in middle school, but began to train professionally in college. Studying ballroom and Latin, Lambert also specializes in West Coast Swing dance. On moving to Williamsburg from Montana in 2020, Lambert became a teacher at CB Dance Studio.

“We are working on a seamless transition,” says Lambert, “This change allows us to expand our children programs plus the Mommy & Me concept while continuing the classes CB Dance Studio has become known for.”

Norge will continue to teach the dance classes, which she has become known for locally.

“We want people to know we will still be offering Latin, ballroom, swing country and line dance classes,” explained Lambert.

Ocean Breeze Dance Studio will offer the Mommy & Me classes and youth Swing lessons in addition to continuing adult lessons, group classes, private events and social evening dances.

Social dances, open to the public on the first Saturday of the month, begin with a 30-minute lesson for beginners followed by an evening of dancing. The cost is $12 per person.

On March 4, York County will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 3 p.m. for the new studio, followed by a special recognition program to celebrate Norge’s years of service to the community.

For more information on the ribbon-cutting ceremony, classes or social dances visit the studio’s Facebook page.
