Ann Thomas seeking Re-election for Commissioner of the Revenue for York County

Ann Thomas would like to announce that she is seeking re-election as Commissioner of the Revenue for York County in the November election.

Thomas began working in the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office in 1973.  Throughout those years she was promoted to Deputy Commissioner and then to Chief Deputy Commissioner and have been successful in the last six elections and she am completing my 28th year serving as the Commissioner of the Revenue for York County.

She has implemented on-line renewal and application for Business License and monthly submittal of excise tax; at which time electronic payment options are available. She promotes technology which includes internet access and digitally imaging the official tax records, reports and correspondence which increases staff productivity and taxpayer assistance.

She has concentrated my goals on being available to taxpayers; providing the highest level of customer service; evaluate processes, with manual and technological solutions; and seek to improve and ensure accuracy, efficiency and that all individuals and businesses are treated fairly and uniformly.

She is certified as a Master Commissioner of the Revenue by the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and the Commissioner of the Revenue Association of Virginia.

Professionalism and continuing education is a high priority.  Three of her staff are certified as Master Deputy Commissioners.  Her staff attend workshops and courses offered through the Commissioner of the Revenue Association, Virginia Association of Assessing Officers, the Virginia Department of Taxation, and the County.

She serves as the NADA Liaison, a member of the Education and Training Committee and the Legislation Committee for the Commissioner of the Revenue Association of Virginia.

She actively serves the Commissioner of the Revenue Computer User’s Group which includes a little over 50% of the Counties and Cities in Virginia that use this same municipal software.

She is a member of the Commissioner of the Revenue Association of Virginia, Virginia Association of Assessing Officers, Virginia Association of Local Elected Officials and the Virginia Association of Local Tax Auditors.

It is a privilege and honor to serve as the Commissioner of the Revenue for York County.

Authorized by:  Committee to Re-elect Ann Thomas
