WAC wins championship titles for boys and girls in the medium-sized team division

Williamsburg Aquatic Club sent 16 swimmers to the Virginia State Long CourseChampionships, held July 26-29 in Christiansburg. The meet was a huge success for WAC, who won the Championship titles for both boys and girls in the medium-sized team division. Swimmers participating in the meet were Andrew Burrows (14), Liam Gregory (13), Nathan Cummings (13), Jack Graham (12), Lindsay Hanks (12), Scarlett Miller (12), Emma Walker (12), Gracie Gregory (11), Carl Stauffer (10), Tommy Watson (10), Teddy Sykes (9), Nathan Knick (9), Madelyn Hubbard (10), Alyssa Burrows (10), Chloe Phillips (9), and Elizabeth Gregory (9).
WAC scored a combined total 726 points (482 from individual swims, 244 from relays). Jack Graham was WAC’s high point winner for boys with 125 points, and Elizabeth Gregory won high point for the girls with 98 points, narrowly beating her sister Gracie, who had 97 points. Other individual scorers for WAC were Carl Stauffer, 84 points, Lindsay Hanks, 61 points, Emma Walker, 14 points, Madelyn Hubbard, two points, and Teddy Sykes, one point. The 10&U girls relay of Alyssa Burrows, Chloe Phillips, Madelyn Hubbard, and Elizabeth Gregory scored 84 total points, the 10&U boys relay of Nathan Knick, Tommy Watson, Teddy Sykes, and Carl Stauffer scored 62 combined points, and the 11-12 girls relay team of Lindsay Hanks, Emma Walker, Gracie Gregory, and Scarlett Miller added 98 points to WAC’s total.
In addition to helping WAC win the State title, three swimmers earned spots on the Virginia State Zone Team, and will compete against 12 other states teams to determine the Eastern Zone Champions. Jack Graham, Gracie Gregory, and Elizabeth Gregory will represent Virginia at the Eastern Zone meet, to be held in Richmond, August 8-11.
