Sentara Healthcare recognized by national publication

Sentara Healthcare was recognized by a national publication for its work in the healthcare industry.

IBM Watson Health named Sentara a Top 15 Health System of 2018, according to a news release from Sentara.

The distinction is broken into three categories: large health system, medium health system and small health system. Sentara won in the large health system category.

Sentara, based in Norfolk, operates 12 hospitals along the Peninsula including sites in Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Hampton and Norfolk.

IBM Watson Health measures the consistency of clinical and operational performance among the individual hospitals within each health system when determining its rankings, according to the release.

Sentara was recognized for its efforts in readmissions, infection reduction, Venous Thromboembolism prevention and clinical performance.
