With the start of 2018, people across the nation are making New Year’s resolutions to get fit.

In Williamsburg, locals have several options to help them reach their goals.

Williamsburg Parks and Recreation is offering free sample fitness classes at the Quarterpath Recreation Center from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, according to a City of Williamsburg news release.

The sample classes give residents the opportunity to try a variety of classes before committing time and money to one, the release said.

Classes include BarreFlow, Good Vibes Only Yoga, Gentle Flow Yoga and Pickleball.

“There is something for everyone to enjoy regardless of a person’s fitness level,” Robbi Hutton, Williamsburg Parks and Recreation director, said.

BarreFlow, offered from 6-7 p.m., is designed to incorporate aspects of yoga, pilates, barre fitness and strength training into one workout, according to the company’s website. These classes are directed at those wanting to build strength, endurance and flexibility.

Good Vibe Only Yoga, will be offered from 7-7:30 p.m. and is designed for building flexibility through a spiritual and physical connection. The classes are donation-based and focus on good energy and soulful experiences.

Gentle Flow Yoga, offered from 7:30-8 p.m., is different from Good Vibe because it focuses on synchronizing breath and movement, according to their website. These classes are Vinyasa-style yoga for those looking to connect energy and physical movement.

Pickleball, offered from 6-8 p.m., is a sport that combines aspects of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, according to the USA Pickleball Association. Pickleball is good for those looking to participate in a quick, fast-paced game for all skill levels.

Quarterpath Recreation Center is located at 202 Quarterpath Road. For more information on these free classes, contact Colleen Wilson at 757-259-3760 or visit Williamsburg Parks and Recreation website.
