Now through July 15, Historic Triangle residents can take advantage of “early bird” registration rates for Child Development Resources’ annual SuperHero 5K.
The race, which is slated for Aug. 13, drew over 400 runners and walkers last year, plus several hundred spectators and volunteers. The event’s scenic course through the Vineyards and its imaginative superhero theme has made it a favorite race within the local running community, according to a recent press release from CDR.
Dedicated running enthusiasts — as well as walkers and families — are invited to take part in the event, which includes both a 5K and a one-mile “fun run” for the more casual participant.
In addition to a popular superhero costume contest, this year’s event will also include children’s activities, music, food, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and a raffle.
Individuals and teams can register now through July 15 to take advantage of the discounted early bird rate, which is $30 per person for the 5K and $15 per person for the fun run. From July 16 through Aug. 12, the registration fees will increase by $5 for both the 5K and the fun run. Race day registration is $40 for the 5K and $25 for the fun run. Registration includes a t-shirt, chip timing and access to food, ice cream, and activities.
Racers can also set fundraising goals to lend extra support to CDR, which serves nearly 1,000 babies and toddlers every year.
